Research On Liu Minkuan, The General Administrator Of Three Borders In The Ming Dynasty, And His Writing

Liu Minkuan(1544-1625),also known as Dingyu and Dingyu,was a political figure with high literary literacy,wisdom,and significant influence in the mid to late Ming Dynasty.He studied with his father when he was young,and later entered a school called Hedong Academy to study.He was a Jinshi in the fifth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty(1577).He served as the Supervisor of the County of Yiyang,the military officer of Xining,the governor of Gansu,the governor of Yansui,and the trilateral general system.Finally,he became the minister of the Ministry of War,adding the crown prince and the junior minister.During his tenure as an official,the place he managed had to organize military equipment,store food,and build a security system.He won over thirty wars and became a famous figure in border governance during the Ming Dynasty.iu Minkuan had five works in his life,including Xining Wei Zhi,Dingyuan Ji,Guyuan Zhou Zhi,Illustrated Four Towns in Shaanxi,and Delete Dingwu Yi Ku Zhi Lu.Except for the disappearance of content in Dingyuan Collectionand Wanli Xining Weizhi,all other books have been preserved.The Xining Wei Zhi is the earliest local chronicle in the Xining region,and some of its contents are included in the Book of Beneficial Diseases in the Countryside;Dingyuan Ji is a personal collection of works by Liu Minkuan,with only one version and is collected by the National Library;The Guyuan Zhou Zhi is an early local chronicle of Guyuan City,which is collected in many places;The Illustrated Four Towns in Shaanxi is a precious and rare Ming Dynasty illustration collected in the Central Library of Taiwan;The book Delete Dingwu Yi Ku Zhi Lu was compiled by Liu Minkuan and collected in the Guizhou Library and Peking University Library.It is of great research significance to conduct a systematic study on the versions,content,and value of Liu Minkuan’s current preserved works.Liu Minkuan has created poems and essays with personal style in his long-term defense of the border.The poetry and prose that he passed down around the world were mainly created in the middle and later stages of his life,and were included in the book Dingyuan Ji.His poetry and prose have various genres and rich themes.During the period of protecting the country,he looked at the mountains and rivers and painted the scenery of his motherland with a brush;He talks about literature with people and uses poetry to correspond with each other;He made great achievements on the battlefield and used poetry to record events.During this period,he created numerous poems with neat rhymes.He particularly enjoys composing poems,with a grand and heroic style and strong emotions.His literary themes can be divided into preface,recording,and recitation.His article has a rigorous layout and clear hierarchy;Extensive references and numerous allusions;Sincere expression of emotions,with strong artistic characteristics.His memorial involves his tenure in border politics in Henan,Qinghai,Shaanxi,Ningxia,and other places,which has historical and textual research value.
