The source text of the translation project comes from The House Name Culture and Tibetan Society in Heishui county.The excerpts mainly involve Chinese Tibetan culture,including the acquisition of house name,the relationship between family,marriage and house name,the kinship and appellation.At present,few researchers have conducted research on Tibetan culture in translation field,thus this translation report can provide some practical reference for the translation of relevant texts in the future.This report is completed under the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory.The translator analyzes the difficulties and key points in the process of translation from lexical,syntactic and textual level.Lexically,the translator mainly adopts the strategies of literal translation,conversion,transliteration and annotation to convey the meaning of the source text.Syntactically,the translator mainly adopts the methods of inversion,change of voice and restructuring to make the translation conform to the expression habits of the target language.Textually,the translator analyzes how to achieve cohesion and coherence of a text from the perspectives of linguistic context and cultural context.Finally,the translator evaluates the quality of the translation through tutor assessment,peer assessment and client assessment to ensure the accuracy of the translation.Last,the translator summarizes the achievements and shortcomings from this translation practice,hoping that this translation practice can effectively disseminate traditional Chinese culture,and provide reference for the translation of cultural texts.
