The most authoritative aspect of ancient Chinese history is the history of the Chinese dynasty,known as the Twenty-Four Histories,it provides the national historical memory which can be consulted and consulted at any time for the later generations,and also contributes the inexhaustible creative material for the literature and art.But there was always a dualistic confrontation between the “Edge” and the “Center” in the history of the Chinese dynasty,in which the history of the “Edge” was ignored and exiled,which inevitably led to the loss of the writing of Chinese history,the same is true of historical literature.Jiang Shengnan,however,consciously focuses on “Marginal” history.In her long historical novels named “Legend of Miyue”,“Building of Yanyun”,“Law of Tiansheng” and “Iron Blood Yanzhi”,the rediscovery and reappearance of “Marginal” characters,dynasties and geographical spaces not only correct the existing historical novel tendency to a certain extent,at the same time,it opens another dimension for the readers to enter into Chinese history and gives the “Marginal” history a chance to make a voice.This paper focuses on the historical novels of Jiang’s “Marginal” history and its manifestation.Jiang Shengnan continued the writing tradition of “Emperor and ministers”in the 1980 s and 1990 s.However,because of her female experience and the particularity of the writing environment,she re-examined the history of “China”,found in the historical fold of the “Edge” of female politicians,nations,geographical space.Through the portrayal of the image of “Marginal” female politicians,Jiang Shengnan,with her unique life experience,writes about the tenacious existence of women in the face of patriarchy,ethnic exclusion and heckling,highlight the progressive significance of women in creating and promoting history.She put the “Marginal” dynasty in the background of “The discrimination between Yi and Xia”,and re-examined the cultural intersections of the spring and Autumn and Warring States period and the dynasties of Song,Liao and Xia,it has written out the historical civilization pattern of the “Non-unification” era,which is changing,pluralistic and complicated.At the same time,by exploring the custom,physical and historical changes in Chu,Shu and Liao far from Central Plain,it presents a “Central Plain-local” image of local “China” in the context of cultural conflict and ethnic integration.Jiang Shengnan’s “Marginal” historical writing breaks through the orthodox views of male history,Han Chinese and Central Plain,and expresses a spirit of ethnic integration that breaks down racial barriers,presents a different style of historical China.The primary problem of “Marginal” history in novel creation is the lack of historical materials,which not only provides the writers with a huge space to develop their artistic imagination freely,but also creates new creation problems and dilemmas.Jiang Shengnan put the “Marginal”history into the Universal history and the Total history,imagined the“Marginal” with the broad space-time vision,and devoted himself to constructing the historical “Truth” from various angles,no doubt it has provided a new experience for historical novel writing.But Jiang Shengnan still hasn’t gotten rid of the shackles of “Center” and “Edge”,there is a new tendency to the “Edge” against the “Center” of the narrative.In addition,the misuse and misplacement of many historical materials exposed the author’s shortcomings in the lack of historical knowledge,which is also where Jiang’s historical novel writing deserves a wakeup call and reflection.
