Application is one of the basic issue in Gadamer’s hermeneutics,which runs through Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics and is also the key to Gadamer’s later practice philosophy.Gadamer rediscovered the application elements of understanding from theological hermeneutics and biblical hermeneutics,and on this basis realized the unity of understanding,interpretation,and application.In philosophical hermeneutics,application,as the way of human existence,embodies human historicity.Application is linguistic in nature,application belongs to human existence,and human beings exist in the world of language.The object of hermeneutics and the process of hermeneutics are carried out in language.The internal logic of application is a question-and-answer mode.Hermeneutics The truth also has a linguistic character.Gadamer discovered the internal unity between hermeneutics and Aristotle’s practical philosophy,that is,the two have a common application mission,and then restored Aristotle’s philosophy based on hermeneutics.The tradition of practical philosophy,but Gadamer’s practical philosophy is not a simple return to Aristotle,but a new philosophy based on the absorption of Kant’s moral philosophy.This paper attempts to clarify the application is the intrinsic element of hermeneutics by combing the development and trend of Gadamer’s hermeneutics,and at the same time discusses the key position of application in the development of Gadamer’s hermeneutics.
