Video game adaptations,as a relatively new area of film development,are an important part of the context of media convergence.League of Legends: Arcane was broadcast on Netflix(November 2021)and Tencent Video,receiving high critical acclaim.This article takes League of Legends and Arcane as the main objects of study,examining the dialogue and flow of meaning between the game and the animation,and providing a systematic and clear focus on the amount of cross-media film-game fusion.The article focuses on four aspects: firstly,in the introductory section,the current situation of the development of domestic mainstream games and animation adaptations in the context of film-game fusion is presented.The first chapter analyses how strong competitive games refine the original work,pointing out that games to films need to establish a basis for interoperability: narrative.The second chapter analyses the three aspects of Arcane: theme,strategy and ideology.How the cross-media narrative approach transforms from the singularity of games to the complexity and conflict of animation.Complementary.The third chapter analyses the intertextuality of game and the audiovisual language of animation,analysing the cross-media narrative of game elements,discussing the forms of player ’presence’experience,and thus co-constructing the story world presented in the League of Legends universe.The fourth chapter reviews the adaptation of Arcane highlighting the problems of film and television adaptations in the context of film-game fusion.In this regard,the film makes reasonable suggestions on how to meet the expectations of game fans and general audiences while maintaining a balance between commercialism and artistry.
