Subjective well-being is an important indicator for individuals to measure their quality of life. For companies to sustain development, they must focus on improving employees’ sense of happiness,as only when employees truly feel happy in their work will they be fully committed and ultimately benefit the company.Gratitude is a positive emotion and positive cognition and personality that individuals derive from positive subjective experiences.Research in the field of positive psychology has shown that gratitude can influence subjective well-being.Additionally,prosocial behavior such as helping others may also have an impact on subjective well-being.Therefore,this study aims to explore the relationship between gratitude, prosocial behavior, and subjective well-being.Study 1 analyzed the questionnaire results of 319 corporate employees using a survey method. The results showed that gratitude positively predicts subjective well-being,and prosocial behavior also positively predicts subjective well-being.Furthermore,prosocial behavior plays a mediating role between gratitude and subjective well-being,indicating that gratitude can positively influence prosocial behavior, which in turn has a positive effect on subjective well-being.In addition,Study 1 found that prosocial behavior plays a mediating role between gratitude and both the positive emotion and cognition dimensions, providing insight into the mechanisms underlying gratitude, prosocial behavior, and subjective well-being.Study 2 used a situational experiment to explore the effectiveness of interventions in improving subjective well-being.By manipulating participants’ dispositional gratitude levels through video materials, the study examined whether manipulating gratitude levels could affect changes in subjective well-being levels.Analysis of 76 questionnaires found that the prosocial behavior of the gratitude group was significantly higher than that of the control group. The gratitude group also scored significantly higher than the control group in life satisfaction and positive emotion dimensions. This suggests that changes in dispositional gratitude levels have a positive impact on prosocial behavior, life satisfaction, and positive emotion.By reviewing the literature,we believe that the effectiveness of interventions is limited by online situational experiments and different intervention methods. In conclusion, this study found through a questionnaire survey that gratitude is positively related to subjective well-being,and prosocial behavior plays a mediating role in this relationship. The results of the situational experiment indicate that dispositional gratitude has a positive impact on both life satisfaction and positive emotion dimensions of subjective well-being.From a practical point of view, this study provides some theoretical basis and empirical support for enterprises in the enhancement of employees’ subjective well-being. |
