The Creative Features And Performance Interpretation Of Grieg’s In Autumn Op.11 For Piano Four-hand

From ancient times to the present,human culture,history and artistic styles of each period have been in constant succession,pushing forward the new,each period is inseparable from the influence of the previous one or several previous periods.As a representative composer of Norwegian nationalism in the 19 th century,Grieg was influenced by the classical and romantic schools of composition in the early part of his career,and opened up his own national music on top of that.His innovations in compositional techniques indirectly influenced the composers of the Impressionist school of music.This paper studies the work "in the autumn" four-handed originally for Grieg’s creative career in the middle of an orchestral overture,the composer personally to Norway’s natural scenery and experience the folk customs,with music vividly portrayed the northern Norway under the autumn scenes.The first composition was rejected by the publishing company,so the composer turned it into a piece for piano with four hands,which was well received.In this paper,I have reviewed the literature to find out the biography of the composer and the background of the work.On this basis,the composer’s compositional style is analyzed in the context of the era in which the work was written,exploring its characteristics in terms of composition,rhythm,modulation,harmony,ethnicity and musical image.Finally,the author summarizes the difficulties encountered in the performance of this work through his own experience,the guidance of his tutor,and the viewing of video materials,in order to provide some reference for students who will perform this work in the future.
