| The focus of this paper is on the transliteration principles of Chinese loanwords derived from Russian. The transliteration of vocabulary includes: consonant transliteration, consonant cluster transliteration, vowel transliteration into monophthong or compound vowels, vowel transliteration into compound vowels with nasal components, and the influence of Chinese syllable restrictions on transliteration. To conduct this study, the phonetic symbols of both languages need to be converted into a unified symbol system. Therefore, this paper mainly uses the International Phonetic Alphabet(IPA)as the research tool and statistical research methods as the main approach. The study found that the transliteration of Russian consonants is primarily determined by the place of articulation(except for nasal sounds, which always correspond to Chinese nasal sounds, and therefore, the transliteration of nasal sounds is determined only by the manner of articulation).Palatalization has a certain influence on the transliteration of consonants.Consonant clusters in Russian that undergo transliteration have a structure similar to that of affricate. The vowel transliteration into monophthong or compound vowels mainly depends on whether it is a rounded vowel, followed by the vowel height or position.Stress has no effect on vowel transliteration. As for the vowel transliteration into compound vowels with nasal components, the study found that it differs from the transliteration of vowel into monophthong or compound vowels. The results of the vowel quadrilateral show that the transliteration results have a certain range. In other words,Russian low vowels are transliterated into Chinese low vowels, front vowels are transliterated into Chinese front vowels, and back vowels are transliterated into Chinese back vowels, and each range includes the weak vowel [?] as the intersection point. This paper also found that Chinese syllable restrictions have a significant impact on transliteration. For example, the number of phonemes after transliteration may decrease or increase, and an additional sound may be added between two phonemes. This restriction also leads to the phonemes in the middle of the syllable not participating in transliteration, with the phonemes before and after the syllable being the main objects of transliteration. In collecting Chinese loanwords from Russian and their corresponding Russian words, this paper found that some of the words have been repeatedly introduced into Chinese, and the pronunciation after each transliteration is slightly different. Therefore, before conducting a comprehensive analysis, this paper conducted separate analyses for each corresponding word, and then compared the analysis results to check if there were significant differences in transliteration between them. However, the study did not find any differences. In conclusion, although the transliteration rules of Russian phonemes are complex, they are not an unpredictable process, but rather follow the above rules to integrate into the Chinese phonetic system. |
