| According to the national statistical data, adolescents are already the mainstream Internet user group in China. In modern society, with the transformation of technological achievements to be popularized in thousands of households, the Internet has become an integral part of the learning life of adolescents. The Internet is a double-edged sword. In addition to the well-known negative effects, there are also positive social behaviors in cyberspace, such as internet altruistic behavior.Internet altruism behavior refers to people’s spontaneous helping behavior when they use the Internet without expecting a return and at the cost of losing their own interests. However,in the past, psychological research on internet altruistic behavior has favored college students as subjects, and the community has long been accustomed to viewing the phenomenon of adolescents using the Internet with tinted glasses,so that it is often linked to problematic behaviors when talking about the Internet.A combination of factors has led to the fact that internet altruistic behavior among adolescents has not yet been taken seriously by society, families and schools. Therefore,in this study, two mediating variables, moral self-concept and empathy, were introduced to investigate the influence of parental emotional warmth on adolescents’ internet altruistic behavior, and to examine whether school climate can play a moderating role in order to provide some references and suggestions for regulating adolescents’ internet behavior, promoting their healthy growth and creating a civilized and harmonious online environment. In this study,1550 adolescents were studied, and parental emotional warmth, moral self-concept,empathy,internet altruistic behavior, and school climate were measured by questionnaires, and the data were compiled and statistically analyzed using SPSS 26.0.The results were as follows:(1)Parental emotional warmth significantly and positively predicts adolescents’ internet altruistic behavior;(2)Moral self-concept and empathy play a significant mediating role between parental emotional warmth and internet altruistic behavior. There are three mediation pathways: first, the separate mediation of moral self-concept;second,the separate mediation of empathy;and third, the chain mediation of moral self-concept and empathy.(3)The moderating effect of school climate is significant. The interaction between empathy and school climate positively affected internet altruistic behavior. To be specific, the simple mediating role of empathy and the chain mediating role of moral self-concept and empathy were both moderated by school climate. In other words, school climate moderates the second half of the pathway in both models. This study concluded the following: Parental emotional warmth can directly influence adolescents’ internet altruistic behavior.Parental emotional warmth can indirectly influence internet altruistic behavior through moral self-concept and empathy respectively.Parental emotional warmth can indirectly influence adolescents’ internet altruistic behavior by enhancing the level of moral self-concept and then further enhancing empathy.Considering the school factor, the positive school climate perceived by adolescents can positively influence adolescents’ internet altruistic behavior by enhancing empathy, thus indirectly enhancing the positive influence of parental emotional warmth on adolescents’ internet altruistic behavior. In summary, moral self-concept and empathy are important internal mechanisms for parental emotional warmth to influence internet altruistic behavior, and school climate enhances the protective effect of the original pathway. |
