| Chen Zhifo and the pattern teaching of Guangzhou City School of Fine Arts are a very typical example of the construction and development of pattern education in early China,which has important research significance.Through the study of Chen Zhifo’s early study experience and the practice and teaching of pattern design after returning from abroad,this paper tries to understand the formation of his early pattern education thoughts and how to adapt the Japanese pattern education system to China.Then,through the analysis of the historical background of the establishment of the pattern department of Guangzhou City School of Fine Arts and Chen Zhifo’s coming to Shimei,as well as the exploration of the construction of Chen Zhifo’s teaching in the department and the pattern theory and teaching ideas formed in the pattern teaching,we can deeply understand the origin of Chen Zhifo’s relationship with the pattern teaching.On this basis,by placing Chen Zhifo and Guangzhou City School of Fine Arts in the construction team of "pattern study" of The Times,and making a comparative study with contemporary pattern educators and higher art colleges offering pattern education,on the one hand,the historical background and social status of Chen Zhifo and Guangzhou City School of Fine Arts in Chinese pattern education are determined.On the other hand,it can clearly grasp the construction and development of "pattern science" in modern China.During the period of pattern teaching in Guangzhou City School of Fine Arts,Chen Zhifo gradually condensed the relevant pattern theory,which also represents his view on pattern teaching,namely,attaching importance to the training of basic skills,the combination of Chinese excellent traditional culture,the combination of theory and practice,and the unification of aesthetics and practicality in pattern teaching and research.As the first formal public art school in South China,Guangzhou City School of Fine Arts is also the earliest local public art education institution in the country.The opening and development of pattern education in Guangzhou City School of Fine Arts is of great historic significance to the development of pattern education in South China and even the whole country,as well as to the cause of Chen Zhifo pattern education.Together,they constitute one of the important forces in the construction and development of "pattern science" in modern China,and play an indelible and important role in the modernization of Chinese pattern education.Based on the above research,it can be discussed that the important enlightenment significance brought by Chen Zhifo and Guangzhou City School of fine arts for today,namely,reexamine and establish modern Chinese "pattern" education system,and in the development of arts and crafts education and modern design art education in our country,we need to solid "basic skills",return to Chinese national culture and "apply what you learn,use to be beauty". |
