| Home is a microcosm of a person,in which mother plays an important role.In previous studies, scholars unanimously agreed that parental upbringing patterns play a key role in the formation and development of children’s prosocial behavior;Compared with father’s upbringing, mother’s upbringing has more priority and decisive influence on children’s personality and social development. These findings have substantial theoretical basis, such as attachment theory and family system theory. On the basis of fully referring to the previous research conclusions, the author deeply analyzed the relevant theoretical implications, and focused on the unique impact of mother’s upbringing on College Students’ prosocial behavior. This study carefully considered college students’ emotional insecurity and cognitive reappraisal as key variables. To explore the relationship between mother’s upbringing style and college students’ prosocial behavior, and the mechanism of cognitive reappraisal and emotional insecurity in the relationship between the former two variables. In this study,584 students from a university in Guangzhou were surveyed by using a convenient sampling method. The questionnaires included the Chinese version of the simplified Parental Upbringing Style Questionnaire(s-EMBU-c),the prosocial behavior scale, the emotional insecurity scale, and the emotional regulation scale.Based on the description of college students’ mother’s upbringing style, prosocial behavior, emotional insecurity, the overall situation of cognitive reappraisal and demographic characteristics, this paper focuses on the analysis of the influence of demographic variables on the main variables, the correlation between key variables, the analysis of the predictive effect of key variables on college students’ prosocial behavior, and the intermediary effect of cognitive reappraisal and emotional insecurity. The research results are as follows:(1)Mother’s upbringing style, prosocial behavior and emotional insecurity are related to each other significantly;(2)Mother’s negative and positive parenting styles significantly predicted college students’ prosocial behavior, that is positive parenting positively predicted college students’ prosocial behavior, and negative parenting negatively predicted college students’ prosocial behavior;(3)Emotional insecurity plays a mediating role between mother’s negative upbringing style and prosocial behavior;(4)Cognitive reappraisal regulated the path of emotional insecurity and prosocial behavior in the second half of the model. The above results show that the prosocial behavior of helping others and being friendly to others of college students has a positive effect on the warmth, tolerance and support of their mothers. In campus life, school teachers should cultivate their emotional stability, broaden the perspective of students’ cognition, see the diversity of things instead of a single interpretation, which is conducive to college students’ physical and mental health and social harmony. |
