The semantic link between verbs and the items that follow them is intricate and varied.Verb-object structure is obviously important to foreign students since it makes up a significant amount of all types of words in modern Chinese and is a popular sentence structure.Meanwhile,due to its complex structure,it is also a big problem for foreign students to learn Chinese.The verb-object structure includes regular objects which are easy for learners to understand,but also some non-conventional objects which are difficult to understand.Therefore,many problems will inevitably arise in the process of learning for overseas students.For example,"accompany the bed","pick up the airport" and other structures in the object represent the location of the action;"Evading debt","fighting fire","recuperating disease" and other structures in the object are the cause of the action;The semantics of this kind of structure are quite different from that of regular receiving objects in that the semantics representing the action part do not directly refer to the object of the structure.It is often difficult for learners to understand: why the patient is accompanied by "bed companion" ?What is the man who is hiding? From the perspective of learners,this kind of vocabulary belongs to verb-object structure in form,but there are obvious semantic contradictions between verbs and objects,which brings great difficulties for learners to learn and understand Chinese.In teaching practice,teachers of Chinese as a foreign language usually explain that the main language is the executor of the action,while the object is the acceptor of the action,and teach on the basis of teaching materials.In most cases,the teaching materials of Chinese as a foreign language mostly use the avoidance method,or understatement or avoidance,to deal with the non-subjected object structure,which often leads to the confusion of learners when they encounter such words.In view of the above problems of "difficult to learn" and "difficult to teach" of non-subject verb-object structures,the author intends to carry out research on verb-object structures,taking "V+ causative object" as an example,hoping to help students further understand the word-formation mode and structural characteristics of Chinese verb-object structures,so as to help students acquire such vocabulary.In addition,through the analysis of the structural characteristics of "V+ cause object" and the comparative analysis of English and Chinese,the Chinese ontology can be enriched,and corresponding teaching suggestions are put forward according to the structural characteristics,so as to provide references for the teaching of Chinese verb-object structure for teachers as a foreign language in the process of Chinese teaching practice,help teachers further clarify the teaching ideas and promote teaching. |
