Research On Pei Jingfu’s Seal

In the identification of ancient Chinese paintings and calligraphy and the study of the transfer chain,the collector’s seals play a vital role.As a famous paintings and calligraphy collector,Pei Jingfu’ve had a lot of friends and a rich collection throughout his life.The Painting and Calligraphy Record of Zhuang Tao Pavilion,22 volumes in total,was written with great effort in his late years,it records more than 700 pieces of paintings and calligraphy from the Wei and Jin Dynasties to the end of the Qing dynasties.It’s an extremely important description of calligraphy and painting in the Republic of China,and a must read book for later collectors.In the identification of Pei’s old collection of calligraphy and paintings,the study of Pei Jingfu’s seal and the establishment of the standard print group for Pei’s seal are crucial,which also constitute the core of this article.Firstly,this article sorts out Pei Jingfu’s seals with the help of paintings,calligraphy,inscriptions and catalogues collected by major museums.Without considering the same seal,a total of 110 Pei’s seals have been collected.Secondly,based on the description of ancient books and the comparative analysis of more than 50 identical seals in the same text,it is concluded that 9 seals can establish a mutual verification relationship between the same seal and the same form.Through the combination of the description of the works in the library collection with reliable sources,a total of 25 seals are selected from the three authentic works in the Pei family’s old collection that are confirmed by Fu,and based on multiple evidences,they are reasonably classified as the standard seal for Pei family’s use,as well as 8 fake seals and 15 pending seals.Finally,on the basis of the same text seal and standard seal,this paper further analyzes the printing style,seal position and law of Pei Jingfu’s seal.The above content is crucial for further studying Pei’s old collection of calligraphy and painting systems.
