Abstract/Summary:
Poeticization means the use of poetic expressions to poetically reconstruct the life that people are accustomed to.The most impressive aspect of Milton Avery’s works is the poetic tendency in his oil painting language.While the landscapes in his paintings are originally objective,he uses subjective colors,simplified shapes,and rhythmic arrangements in his images.The landscape becomes a landscape of feeling and emotion,and the picture becomes an ethereal and beautiful poem.The value of his works does not depend on the formal composition,colors,etc.,but on what can tell the soul-solitude,emotions and the view of natural beings.This paper analyzes the poetic tendency in Milton Avery’s oil paintings.This paper firstly introduces and analyzes the concept of "poeticization" and takes Juan Miró and Changyu’s poetic tendency in their oil painting language as examples to better explore the poetic tendency in Avery’s works;briefly describes the four histories of the development of poeticization in Avery’s oil paintings in the context of his life;analyzes the visual effects in his oil paintings to search for Through analyzing the visual effects in his oil paintings,searching for the artist’s creative techniques,and exploring the spiritual connotation of his poeticization with the help of philosophical concepts such as spirituality and the concept of nature;finally,combining the above studies,exploring the influence and application of the poetic tendency in Avery’s works in my own practice and creation.
