In recent years, violent crime among young people has been increasing at a younger age, especially in the case of cyber attack behaviour(a new form of aggression),which is gradually increasing in proportion to the development of technology and the country. At the same time, the accessibility of online games to young people is also increasing, and games of a violent nature are potentially very harmful to young people in the formative years of their trivial outlook, and may even have indelible consequences for individual growth and development, bringing destabilising factors to the prosperity and stability of society. This paper focuses on the problem of cyber attack behaviour among secondary school students.A questionnaire was administered through a convenience sampling method to explore the mechanisms and factors influencing individual trait anger on cyber attack behaviour and to suggest corresponding educational recommendations. This study used five scales: the Trait Anger Scale, the Online Violent Games Exposure Scale, the Normative Aggression Beliefs Scale, the cyber attack behaviour Scale and the Social Support Scale to survey 911 secondary school students in Anhui Province and Guangdong Province.Using the convenience sampling method,911 questionnaires were returned from secondary schools in Guangdong Province and Anhui Province, and 651 valid questionnaires were obtained after eliminating invalid questionnaires. The valid return rate of the questionnaires in this study was 71.4%,and the results are as follows.(1)Secondary school students’ traits of Online Violent Games Exposure and social support differed significantly in terms of school attendance;Online Violent Games Exposure differed significantly in terms of age;attack normative beliefs and Online Violent Games Exposure differed significantly in the case of only children;cyber attack behaviour and Online Violent Games Exposure differed significantly in terms of gender.(2)Cyber attack behaviour was significantly and positively related to Online Violent Games Exposure, aggressive normative beliefs and trait anger, and negatively related to social support;trait anger was significantly and positively related to Online Violent Games Exposure and aggressive normative beliefs, and negatively related to social support.(3)A chain mediation model was formed between trait anger, violent online games, normative beliefs about aggression, and cyber attack behaviour.(4)Social support plays a significant moderating role in the influence path from aggressive normative belief to cyber attack behaviour, which can effectively mitigate cyber attack behaviour. The results of the analysis led to the following conclusions.(1)High levels of trait anger, violent online gaming and aggressive normative beliefs among secondary school students predispose to cyber attack behaviour, while the presence of social support contributes to a lower incidence of cyber-aggressive behaviour.(2)The presence of social support explains why individuals with higher levels of trait anger do not always engage in aggressive behaviour, especially cyber attack behaviour.
