As one of the important ways for learners to input and acquire information,English reading is not only an indispensable part of English teaching,but also an important embodiment of comprehensive English learning ability.However,the current senior high school English reading class is still dominated by the teacher’s explanation,which leads to the passive acceptance of students in the reading class.In the post-epidemic era,with the large-scale development of online teaching activities,the practical reform of online teaching requires a teaching method that can improve students’ comprehensive English ability and reading interest.Under this requirement,this study attempts to apply interactive teaching method to high school English reading teaching,so as to improve the current situation of students in English reading classroom under the current background.Based on the theory of proximal development zone and cooperative learning theory,this paper defines interactive teaching method as a studentcentered teaching method with the interaction between teachers,students and texts as a bridge of information transmission and communication significance.The author selected 96 students and 3 teachers from two classes of Grade 2 in Tianshui No.2 Middle School of Gansu Province as the research objects,among which6 classes were randomly selected as experimental class and 5 as control class.The empirical research method is used to test the application effect of interactive teaching method in high school English reading online and offline classes.This paper aims to discuss the following questions:(1)What is the current situation of English reading teaching and learning in Tianshui No.2 Middle School?(2)How do teachers use interactive teaching method in high school English reading classes?(3)What is the impact of interactive teaching method on high school students’ reading interest and reading achievement?Before the experiment,this study investigated the students in the two classes through questionnaires,interviews and tests,and found that there was no significant difference between the two classes.During the one-semester teaching experiment,interactive teaching method was adopted for experimental class,while traditional teaching method was maintained for control class.After the experiment,the author conducted questionnaire survey,test and interview for the two classes again.SPSS 25.0was used to conduct independent sample t test for the post-test results of the two classes,and independent sample t test and paired sample t test for the pre-test and post-test results of the two classes.The experimental results show that the experimental class’ s interest in English reading learning,strategies and cooperative learning have been improved to some extent.Meanwhile,the post-test results of the experimental class were significantly higher than those of the control class.The research results prove that compared with traditional English reading teaching methods,interactive teaching method can improve students’ reading interest and reading achievement,and has a significant positive effect on students’ reading learning.However,due to the short experimental time and limited number of experimental samples,the author will further study and practice in the future,and widely apply interactive teaching method in English reading teaching. |
