Emotions are one of the main focuses of research in the field of psychology, and collective pride is one of the more important positive emotions that have a significant impact on people’s behavior and lives.Collective pride is a high evaluation of the group to which one belongs, and is centered on the group members’ identification with the group, and social identity is also a strong tendency for individuals to identify with the group to which they belong.Previous research has focused on the effects of pride on pro-social behavior and social identity on pro-social behavior, but relatively little research has focused on the relationship between collective pride and pro-social behavior. Therefore, this paper will provide some guiding suggestions for the relationship between the three by exploring the effects of collective pride and social identity on pro-social behavior.Based on previous studies, this study uses a combination of questionnaire and experimental methods to explore the relationship between collective pride and pro-social behavior among Chinese college students. The main research contents are as follows:(1)Study 1 used a questionnaire method(N=675)to investigate the relationship between collective pride, social identity, and pro-social behavior. The study used the Individual and Collective Pride Scale, the Social Identity Scale for College Students and the Pro-Social Behavior Tendency Scale as research tools, and analyzed the valid questionnaires using SPSS21.0 and Mplus8.0 software. The results found that: collective pride, social identity and pro-social behavior were positively correlated in two and two,and social identity had a partially mediating role between them.(2)Study 2 used an experimental method(N=120)to investigate the effects of different emotions(collective pride and neutral emotions)on pro-social behavior under different initiation methods(video initiation and virtual contest method initiation). The video material required for the formal experiment was obtained through a pre-experiment,while a 2 × 2 twofactor between-subjects experiment was later conducted using the repeated prisoner’s dilemma paradigm in social dilemmas. The results revealed that individuals with collective pride showed more pro-social behaviors than those with neutral emotions, and individuals under video initiation showed more pro-social behaviors than those under virtual contest method initiation.(3)Study 3 used an experimental method(N=130)to explore the effects of different emotions(collective pride and neutral emotions)on pro-social behavior under different social identities. In this study,a 2 × 2 two-factor between-subjects experiment was conducted using the repetitive public resource dilemma paradigm in social dilemmas, based on the effective initiation method already selected. The results found that individuals had higher levels of prosocial behavior in the high social identity condition than in the low social identity condition. And at high social identity, collectively proud individuals will show more pro-social behaviors than neutral emotion individuals. The following conclusions can be drawn from the study:(1)There is a correlation between collective pride, social identity, and pro-social behavior, and social identity can promote pro-social behavior in collective pride.(2)Under video activation, individuals with collective pride had more pro-social behaviors compared to individuals with neutral emotions.(3)Individuals with high social identity have more pro-social behaviors in collective pride than individuals with low social identity.
