| "Potential of Self-Regulated Learning"(PSRL)refers to students’ motivation and ability to take control of their own learning process and use metacognition to make adjustments. In the context of quality education and the implementation of the ’double reduction’ policy,PSRL can help primary and secondary school students develop a strong learning foundation and promote high-quality development in basic education.Previous studies have primarily focused on promoting students’ independent learning and improving their learning abilities, considering them as separate concepts. However, for primary and secondary school students,it is essential not only to learn to actively engage in their own learning but also to cultivate inner motivation for personal growth. Thus, examining either concept independently may not meet the demands of today’s education. Therefore, this study aims to identify and analyze the various factors encompassed in PSRL by reviewing existing domestic and foreign research.Through investigation and analysis,a questionnaire suitable for primary and secondary school students after the implementation of the ’double reduction’ policy is developed, and the potential factors influencing their PSRL are examined. The study’s findings are as follows:Study 1: In this study,a combination of literature analysis and an open questionnaire survey was conducted among 25 students and 10 teachers.Based on the results,a preliminary questionnaire was developed.Subsequently,a sample of 1180 primary and secondary school students was used to conduct an initial test, examining various psychological indicators to form a questionnaire on PSRL for primary and secondary school students. The results reveal that the PSRL of primary and secondary school students,as compiled in this study, includes five dimensions: self-drive,self-control,willpower,competence,and self-motivation,encompassing a total of 21 questions. The α coefficient of this questionnaire is 0.905.The first-and second-order models of confirmatory factor analysis meet the statistical standards, demonstrating good reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Study 2: An empirical survey was conducted on 2250 primary and secondary school students to investigate the differences in PSRL related to demographic variables and examine the relationship mechanism between parents’ psychological control, personal growth initiative, subjective homework burden, and self-learning ability. The study findings indicated that the PSRL of primary and secondary school students in China generally falls within the upper middle level.PSRL is influenced by demographic variables such as gender, grade, family status, and school status.Parental psychological control has a negative impact on students’ PSRL,while subjective homework burden and personal growth initiative mediate the relationship between parents’ psychological control and PSRL,forming a chain mediation. |
