The Application And Explotation Of Form And Potential In Calligraphy Practice

As a central concept in traditional calligraphy theory,"situation" has become a core issue in calligraphy theory as early as after the Wei and Jin dynasties.Form and potential can be viewed as independent individuals,but when the work is ultimately completed,both are indispensable.This article uses research methods such as literature review,experience summary,and on-site investigation to deeply elaborate on the form and momentum of "Xixia Song" from theoretical analysis to guiding the creative process.This article is divided into four parts.The first chapter analyzes the independent form and potential that can exist in calligraphy,including the materials,brushwork,and structure of the subordinate forms,the dynamic sense in the forms,the scope of the application of the forms,and the theoretical analysis of their integration.The unity of form and form will ultimately point to the expression of the author’s emotions.The second and third chapters explore the manifestation of form and potential in the "Xixia Song",including its cliff form and environment,the organization of rubbings and rubbings,and the analysis of its composition and calligraphy;The existence state of potential and its presentation compared to other inscriptions.The fourth chapter focuses on the specific application of form and momentum in one’s own creation.Through the analysis of the evolution of creative contexts originating from the Han Dynasty,Qing Dynasty,and contemporary times,and the imitation of works by famous artists from various dynasties,the changes in creative contexts are revealed,thus providing ideas for calligraphy creation in the contemporary context.At the same time,based on my own practical experience,I propose elements that can be added to my creation,and my superficial understanding of the aesthetic of the situation.This article aims to concretize the theory of "form and potential" in practice and provide guidance for one’s own work creation,so as to guide practice with theory and enrich theory with practice.
