A Study On The Construction Of Character Image By "Emotional Memory" In Drama Performance

Since Stanilavsky put forward "emotional memory" in accordance with the research in the field of psychology,advocating to find the emotion in line with the role from the emotional memory generated by the actor’s own experience,many drama theorists and educators have elaborated and developed it."Emotional memory" is one of the effective means for actors to explore the true heart,shape the real role and convey the real emotion.It gives real inner support to the actors and eliminates the estrangement between them and the roles.It plays an important role in the construction of vivid character images,.Through theoretical research on "emotional memory",combined with the image shaping of palace plum in my graduation drama Red Plastic Bucket in the Shade,and through literature research method,experience summary method and practical inquiry method,This paper makes an in-depth understanding of "emotional memory",explores its principle of constructing character image,and analyzes its specific application method of constructing character in stage practice.It is hoped that this study can enhance actors’ understanding of "emotional memory" and provide feasible methods for constructing character images.The first part of the paper is the introduction,which mainly describes the background,purpose and significance of the topic,the research status at home and abroad,the key difficulties and innovation points of the research,so as to prepare for the feasibility of the following research.The first part of the paper is the introduction,which mainly describes the background,purpose and significance of the topic,the research status at home and abroad,the key difficulties and innovation points of the research,so as to prepare for the feasibility of the following research.The first chapter describes the "emotional memory" in drama performance,which is divided into three parts: concept,origin and development,characteristics and functions.The second chapter puts forward the principles of "emotional memory" to construct character images,corresponding to: starting from the self,excavating the true emotion,stimulating the continuation of emotional memory in the communication,and moving from "memory" to the character in the prescribed situation.Then the third chapter describes the practice and exploration of "emotional memory" to construct character images,including the single use of emotional memory,the alternate use of emotional memory and sensory memory,and the combination of emotional memory and performance elements.The fourth chapter describes the problems and improvement measures in the construction: unstable emotions in memory and repetitive memory lead to the mechanization of performance.In the last conclusion,combined with my own practice,I put forward my own views on the value of constructing character images by "emotional memory".
