The Image Construction Of "character Roles" In Chinese Classical Dance Performance

In this article,we mainly discuss the methods in portraying characters in Chinese classic dancing performances.We analyze the styles of the performances,appreciate dancers’ body poses and lines,and we summarize the ethnical aesthetic characteristics,historical and cultural backgrounds,and on-stage interpretations.In doing so,we conclude the similarities and uniqueness of the characters,in general as well as specifically.We then draw example from a personal performance experience “Family : Cousin Mei”,discussing the artistic beauty of Chinese classical dance from the character’s perspective.We,therefore,build up a historical viewpoint,looking at Chinese classical dances from different eras,the spirit of classics that the works reveal,and the enlightenment they bring to the contemporary reconstruction of classical images.Chinese classical dancing,as a medium that delivers emotional depth and typical tool,carries the function of passing down the Chinese traditional heritage as well as the classical spirit to the younger generations.
