The Application Of Multilevel Narrative Techniques In Documentary Creation

Word documentary has the meaning of document.Since its birth,documentary film,as a form of film,has also carried the general status of document and played the role of recording and disseminating for natural science and social science.Different from the traditional literature,there are also great differences between the audio-visual language narrative techniques used in the documentary and the narrative techniques used in the written language.This paper will take the documentary work Northwest by South,which is the author’s graduation creation,as an example to analyze the audio-visual language skills and multi-level narrative settings and functions in the documentary creation process.The author’s graduation creation Northwest by South is a documentary film based on the story of the folk handicraft artist Aubreisan · Rejep and his musical instrument handicraft workshop in Hotan area.By showing the production methods of these traditional handicrafts,the relationship between the inheritance of teachers and apprentices,and the relationship between these handicrafts and folk life and culture,it can make image records for the unique local culture and customs.This paper will be discussed from four chapters.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the theoretical basis and research purpose of this paper,as well as the research status of domestic and foreign narrative techniques of documentary creation,as well as the innovation of multi-level narrative in author’s documentary creation.The second chapter provides an overview of the research on documentaries and multi-level narratives.The third chapter analyzes the narrative techniques of the documentary,including the details of the narrative,musical sound effects,audio-visual language skills and atmosphere artistic conception.The fourth chapter explores the narrative techniques and creative process of the author’s own documentary,and expounds the background,content and creative process of the documentary.The last chapter elaborates the creation of Northwest by South from three aspects of creative thinking,problems encountered in creation and creative reflection,and summarizes the deficiencies.To sum up,this article is the author’s research on the creation of multi-level narrative techniques of documentary films,taking the documentary Northwest by South created by graduation as an example,because most of the online documents and arguments are demonstrated from the perspective of theoretical basis,while the author analyzes and discusses from the perspective of his own creative works and editors,providing some of his own experience and suggestions for future documentary creators.
