Mo Yan’s concern for the real world is reflected in his literary world,and an exploration of Mo Yan’s literary world is inextricably linked to the topic of fertility,which is an important aspect of Mo Yan’s literary creation that cannot be ignored.Mo Yan’s fertility writing re-examines the history of fertility in China,and his concern for women and children is a concern for the future development of China.By placing fertility writing in the context of Mo Yan’s overall creation,one can deeply feel Mo Yan’s deep affection as an intellectual for his people,his nation and his country.The main body of the thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter analyses the causes of Mo Yan’s writing on fertility.Mo Yan’s writing on fertility was inevitable,as he drew from folk culture and was influenced by realistic factors and the trend of "root literature" to think about fertility,and consciously wrote about it in his literary creation.The second and third chapters focus on the performance of Mo Yan’s novels on fertility: the second chapter starts from the subject of "birth" and analyses the gestator in Mo Yan’s novels,including the double damage suffered both physically and mentally;the third chapter starts from the subject of "nurture" and analyses the children in Mo Yan’s novels.The third chapter starts from the subject of ’nurturing’ and analyses the family nurturing of children in Mo Yan’s novels,especially the children in the countryside,which Mo Yan is familiar with,to understand the traumatic growth of children through their nurturing over time.The fourth chapter discusses the contradictions and entanglements that Mo Yan reveals in the process of writing about fertility,as well as in the text of his novels,mainly from three perspectives: first,the conflict between women’s fertility and their own future destiny;second,the confrontation between the ethics of life and the system of normalcy;and third,the contradiction between traditional fertility and modern fertility technology.The fifth chapter explores the value and significance of Mo Yan’s fertility writing,including the examination and critique of the current state of fertility in modern society,the search for and redemption of women’s subjective status,and the reflection and questioning of the meaning of life.This article will reorganize and integrate the fertility texts in Mo Yan’s novels,and explore the fertility and nurturing in Mo Yan’s novels with the two main subjects of fertility,women and children,and attempt to further explore the unique value of Mo Yan’s fertility writing by exploring the causes,manifestations,values and meanings of his fertility writing,in order to better understand the value and literary impact of Mo Yan’s works. |
