| The changing domestic and international environment and the development of marketing practices prompt the innovation of marketing approaches and business management, which receives more and more attention. Moreover, with the increasing number of imported translations of economic and management texts, the quality of their translation varies. In order to improve the translation quality of such texts, analyzing and summarizing the problems in the translation of economic and management texts can provide effective reference and strategic guidance for domestic enterprises and senior managers. Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to explore the translation skills of such texts. This is a report on the English to Chinese translation of the academic paper “‘Our Marketing is Our Goodness’ : Earnest Marketing in Dissenting Organizations”.The author selects a 10,000-word translation for analysis. The source text is an informative text with strict logic and rigorous style.During the translation process, the author of this report encounters many difficulties such as terminologies, compound words, conversion of part of speech, long and difficult sentences, information in parentheses, personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns and conjunctions. This report discusses the translation techniques for academic papers on economics and management with regard to the translation problems that arise at the lexical, syntactic and textual levels.Guided by Nida’s functional equivalence theory,at the lexical level, this report adopts the translation techniques of addition, omission and conversion;at the syntactic level,it uses the translation techniques of active-passive voice transformation and division and combination;at the textual level,it employs the methods of adding conjunctions and transitional words and adjusting the textual structure. Finally, this report summarizes the problems encountered in this translation practice and the corresponding solutions, and also reflects on its limitations. This report consists of five parts: Chapter One introduces the translation task, translation purpose and significance;Chapter Two focuses on the functional equivalence theory, application and research methods;Chapter Three analyzes the features and translation difficulties of the original text from the perspectives of vocabulary, syntax and discourse;Chapter Four analyzes the translation techniques and methods of specific translation cases under the perspective of functional equivalence;Chapter Five is a summary and reflection of this study. |
