| Against the background of globalization,international exchanges are increasingly frequent.Academic translation is a prerequisite for promoting scientific research and academic exchanges.In recent years,a large number of Chinese academic research results have been introduced and translated by foreign experts and scholars,which has realized the exchange and interaction between domestic and foreign academic circles.However,in the field of academic translation,people pay more attention to the translation and research of academic works,but less attention to the translation of academic papers.Academic papers are designed to express the results of academic research in objective and rigorous language.They are characterized by accurate words,clear semantic structure,strong professionalism and scientificity,and are worthy of more research and practice.Nida’s functional equivalence theory refers to the reproduction of the source-language message in the target language with the most appropriate and natural equivalent from the semantic to the stylistic level,first of all the reproduction of meaning,then of style.This report takes three academic papers on College English teaching selected from the Journal of Computer-Assisted Foreign Language Education as practice materials for Chinese-English translation.Through case analysis,the translator discusses the translation techniques and strategies used to achieve the lexical,syntactic and textual equivalence under the guidance of Nida’s functional equivalence theory.In this translation practice,at the lexical level,the translator adopts the techniques of omission and transformation of verbs;at the syntactic level,the translator adopts the techniques of transformation of voice,reverse translation and combination;at the textual level,the translator uses grammatical cohesive devices such as substitution and addition of cohesive words so as to achieve functional equivalence of the source-language message in the target text.From the perspective of Nida’s functional equivalence theory,this practice report analyzes the problems and solutions in the process of Chinese-English translation of academic papers on College English teaching,hoping to provide some references for the translation of the similar type of texts and promote international academic exchange and interaction. |
