The Characterization And Singing Analysis Of Zhongjun In The Opera "Regret For The Past"

The opera "Sad Passing" is a national opera co-written by Mr.Wang Quan and Mr.Han Wei and composed by Mr.Shi Guangnan to commemorate the centennial birthday of the famous writer Mr.Lu Xun.At the same time,it is also the first chamber lyric opera in the history of Chinese opera.Mr.Shi Guangnan made a bold innovation to Chinese national opera,integrating western symphony with traditional national tones,reproducing the content and plot of the original novel with stage music,and successfully portraying the inner world and understanding of intellectuals during the May Fourth Movement.Under the oppression of the traditional feudal ethics,the weak intellectuals were weak,and the ideals of the May 4th youth in pursuit of freedom of love and individual liberation could not be realized.This also reveals that under the social background at that time,Juan Sheng and Zijun’s love could not resist the shackles of feudal ethics and the eyes of the world.The two intellectuals want to fight against the feudal forces,but they are oppressed by the feudal forces,which eventually leads to the tragic love between them.In this paper,the heroine "Zijun" in Lu Xun’s novel "Sad Passing" and Shi Guangnan’s opera "Sad Passing" is taken as the research object.From the perspective of the contradictory development of the plot and the character’s personality,this paper analyzes the character’s image features of "Zijun",and further makes a detailed analysis of the music and singing skills of the three arias "A Touch of Sunset","The Wind is Quiet" and "The Unfortunate Life" that run through the psychological changes of the character.It constructs the basic frame for the image shaping of the character Zijun in the opera.It provides theoretical research basis and practical experience for better interpretation of the character "Zijun",and plays a positive role in inheriting Chinese classical opera and promoting the innovation and development of Chinese opera nationalization in the new era.At the same time,it also provides valuable reference materials for future singers and learners.
