The Study On The Image Of The Deities In Jinling’s Poetry And Prose

Literary works on the theme of deities is a very distinctive phenomenon in social culture.Since the Six Dynasties,the historical continuation of landscape worship and the awakening of people’s self-awareness have spawned a group of deities with both human form and humanity.Political touts,folk associations,and literary rewriting have jointly created a huge network of deities in the Jinling area.The vigorous development of Jinglin’s deity beliefs,especially the beliefs of Jiang Ziwen and Qingxi Aunt,supplemented by Qixia Mountain Deity Jin Shang,Sea God Mazu,Yanziji Water Deity Qiuyue Xiu,and these deities spread collaboratively among the upper-class nobles and the lower-class people,the belief in deities provided the object of literary writing and creation.Since their inception,their images have been continuously developed under the gradual progress of the ancient social environment,thereby enabling the study of their images in different historical states.This paper is divided into three chapters,focusing on the formation of Jinling’s attractions and the landscape deities,these deities’ images in Jinling’s poetry,and Jinling’s poems and proses.The first chapter mainly clarifies the geographical boundary and scope of Jinling,and briefly sorts out the history of Jinling’s construction and capital history;Secondly,it summarizes the different characteristics of landscape worship in different periods,and come to conclusion that the development of landscape worship is a process of gradually evolving from simple primitive worship to human form,human nature,and literature.At this time,the mysterious veil of the deity was lifted,and the characteristics of "human" gradually entered from the appearance of the deities.The second chapter makes a deep excavation of the influential landscape deities in Jinling area,and researches the origin,functions,image changes and other important characteristics of the deities from literary works texts and other historical documents.The third chapter discusses the interaction between social reality and the image of deities.The landscape deities portrayed in literary works have achieved the transformation and creation of their original images.In this transformation process,the deities have more abundant and fuller connotations.Correspondingly,political power,as the main force driving the operation of the state apparatus,not only conferred honor on the deities,but also squeezed the creative space for the deities to be expounded in literature,hindered the real emotional expression,and weakened the literary image of the deities.In addition,changes in social concepts will also influence the images of deities in literary works,resulting in different characteristics of deities in different periods.
