A large number of empirical studies have found that Baduanjin exercise is a national traditional Daoyin Qigong which has a positive effect on the physical, cognitive and emotional indicators of exercisers. However,we still don’t know the effect of Baduanjin on the internal promotion mechanism of automatic emotion regulation makes it difficult for us to adopt Baduanjin intervention for individuals with corresponding emotional regulation disorders to supplement drug and medical treatment. In recent years, some studies have found that Baduanjin can improve exercisers’ ability to inhibit and control implicit emotions, and long-term Daoyin Qigong exercise is beneficial to improve exercisers’ emotion regulation strategies. However, current research lacks the use of the automatic emotion regulation paradigm to study the effects of Baduanjin exercise on unconscious emotion regulation processes.Automatic emotion regulation is the process in which individuals automatically pursue the goal of emotion regulation and thus unconsciously change the nature, time, experience and expression of emotions. It is divided into several processes of selection, attention, evaluation and reaction. We combined EEG technology to evaluate the internal promotion mechanism of Baduanjin exercise on college students’ automatic emotion regulation by measuring the changes of individual automatic emotion regulation tendency and adjustment process. The experiment recruited two groups of subjects to participate in the experiment. There were 17 people in the experimental group and 16 people in the control group. The experimental group had 9 weeks of Baduanjin exercise. The control group independently chose exercises other than Daoyin Qigong.,but the total exercise time was consistent with the experimental group. Before and after the intervention, the measurement contents of the two groups included emotional cues Go/No-go task, resting EEG for 3 min,the measurement of emotional regulation implicit association test, and the emotional regulation scale, the emotional regulation attitude scale and the mood state scale. The results of this study are as follows:(1)Nine-week Baduanjin exercise can improve the self-esteem and automatic emotion regulation ability of college students, which is manifested in the improvement of the selfesteem dimension score of the experimental group in the mood state scale, and the lateralization of the frontal lobe of the prefrontal lobe(Fp1,Fp2)alpha frequency band(8-13Hz)in the experimental group was significantly greater than that in the control group in the post-test.;(2)Baduanjin exercise has a promoting effect on the evaluation stage of the pre-focusing stage of automatic emotion regulation.Baduanjin exercise makes the exercisers more inclined to perceive the positive factors of events even in the state of nervousness and panic, and perform more coding processing on positive stimuli. The specific performance is in the amplitude of LPP.During the post-test,the LPP difference wave of positive emotional faces in the left frontal area and the central page of the experimental group was significantly larger than that of the control group.(3)The daily exercise group invests more cognitive resources in emotional stimuli and is more sensitive to negative stimuli because of the influence of mood, but also has stronger response inhibition to negative stimuli.Specifically, during the post-test,P3 amplitude evoked by negative faces significantly increased in the control group under both the Go task and the No-go task.
