Research On The Performance Of Architecture In Xia Gui’s Landscape Paintings And Personal Practice

As one of the four great masters of landscape painting in the Southern Song Dynasty,Xia Gui’s painting style with smooth brush strokes and corner composition creates an ethereal,distant and unrestrained landscape artistic conception,which had a important influence on later generations.This thesis takes the house building in the Xia Gui landscape painting as the research object,and probes into the origin of the house building in the Xia Gui landscape painting.Firstly,it discusses the causes of the architectural expression of buildings in Xia Gui’s landscape paintings from the macroscopic reasons of the time background and the microscopic reasons of the relationship between Xia Gui’s painting teachers.It explores the necessary conditions and important influences provided by the social politics,economic development,ideological culture and regional environment in the Southern Song Dynasty for the expression of house architecture in Xia Gui’s landscape paintings,in the aspects of form characteristics,subject selection,layout of rules,aesthetic conception and so on,and analyzes the reasons why Xia Gui’s personal mentorial relationship and painting learning formed his pen and ink expression of house architecture.Secondly,by sorting out the image content of the house architecture in the Xia Gui landscape paintings,it is found that the house architecture in the Xia Gui landscape paintings presents two styles,one is similar to predecessors,exquisite and neat style;One is a unique,simple style.Then,from the aspects of painting technique,artistic conception and so on,the expression method of his house architecture is studied,and the image of the house architecture in the landscape paintings of other famous Song Dynasty artists is compared to analyze the uniqueness of Xia Gui’s house architecture and its influence on later generations.Finally,through the study of the architectural expression in Xia Gui’s works,I deepened my understanding of the artistic style and painting techniques of his landscape painting,gained beneficial experience and inspiration for my landscape painting creation,and found his reference significance and academic value for the theoretical research and creation practice of landscape painting.
