Study And Practice Of Plant Expression In Chinese Landscape Painting Creation

In the basic composition of landscape painting,mountain,stone,tree,and water are the most basic components in the entire landscape painting.The reason why the tree is an important part of landscape painting,which is different from other stone and flowing water is that as a symbol,it has been devoted of many emotions and representative meanings by literati painters of all generations.From ancient times to the present,there are many works that take the tree as elements and express the painter’s state of mind through it in the creation of landscape paintings,so that the trees have a high status in landscape paintings.Song Dynasty landscape painter Guo Xi also emphasized in his "Linquan Gaozhi" that "Mountain has water as it blood veins,plants and trees as hair,and clouds as spirits,so it gets water than live,gets trees then prosperous,get clouds then beautiful." A famous landscape painter of late Ming and early Qing dynasties Gong Xian said: "the effort of painting trees are half of all things.Look at the trees first when you see a picture." Therefore,in the river which runs through the history of landscape painting’s techniques and theories,or read all kinds of landscape artwork and techniques books of ancient and modern landscape paintings,it is not difficult to find that every sage gave top priority to the tree method.In Guilin,which has the best mountains and rivers of the world,the plant is lush,and the trees have different shapes.This article will focus on combining the skills of predecessors in drawing trees and writing trees and the knowledge used in my sketching in the field,to focus on the study of the main trees and plants’ techniques in landscape painting in Guilin,and the expression,aesthetic value of trees and plants in landscape painting.Through the study of trees and plants and the practice of related works,I completed the creation of landscape paintings with the theme of Guilin landscape.This thesis is divided into three parts.The first part expounds on the general situation of the main trees and plants in life and painting in Guilin and along the Li River and the importance of plants in landscape painting.It strips out the plants that is widely liked and depicted by the public and analyze the plants’ expression methods in landscape painting and its aesthetic form inlandscape painting.The second part mainly explains the way in which trees and plants are expressed as an element in landscape painting by modern landscape painting masters and analyzes it.The third part is the author’s gains from using the plant as the main body of the picture during the creation and sketch.Finally,in the process of creating the series of "Lie and wander Li River",I took the features found in the combination of Guilin’s human scenery and trees as a summary.
