The Tang Dynasty was a period of great development for the feudal society and needed different types of talents to promote the overall development of the country. At that time, the imperial examination was an important way to select talents, but under the influence of both legal regulations and economic conditions, only a small number of people could enter the imperial court by taking the imperial examination. For those who had the opportunity to enter the government, the main goal was to cultivate competent officials who could help the ruler to govern the country, while for the common people who did not have the opportunity to enter the government, the goal was to cultivate the practical skills needed by the country. The two types of talents had different future career plans and different training methods, and the education they received at the stage of childhood education was also different,so the diversion was realized at the stage of childhood education, and the problems of common people’s education gradually came to the fore. This thesis takes the diversion of child education in the Tang Dynasty from the perspective of the education of the common people as the starting point, focuses on the content of child education of the common people, and further discusses the practical effects of the child education of the common people in the Tang Dynasty and its impact on today’s society.First, the basic situation of child education in the Tang Dynasty is discussed, which focuses on the educational resources owned by the noble bureaucrats, common people landowners, peasants, craftsmen and merchants in the Tang Dynasty, and divides the whole social group into those who entered the government and those who did not, according to whether they had the qualification to enter the government. It is shown that in the view of the education of the common people, the diversion of the children’s education stage was realized in the Tang Dynasty, and the problems of the common people’s education have become more and more prominent.Secondly, the content of childhood education for the commoners is introduced, which is divided into three aspects: vocational skills, life skills, and ethics and morality. The aim is to cultivate the common people into high-quality and practical talents to meet the needs of the country in various fields. Finally,it is analyzed that the practical effects of the child education of the common people in the Tang dynasty produced a large number of practical skill talents, which enabled the country to have professionals in all fields and promoted the smooth operation of the Tang dynasty. This mode of training is still applicable in today’s society and has produced different types of talents for the development of the country.
