Study On The Abstract Structure Of Balthus's Variation Painting

Pablo Picasso called him "the greatest painter of the 20 th century," but he was as enigmatic as his work.Looking through Balthus’ s paintings,it can be found that he painted a large number of variations in his life,and such a large number of variations also aroused my curiosity.Based on the series of Balthus’ s variant paintings,this paper will try to analyze and discuss the relevant content of abstract structure in Balthus’ s variant paintings from four aspects: First,explore the formation process of Balthus’ s painting style,take Balthus’ s unique personal growth experience as the main line combined with the social background of the time to explore,and try to analyze the variant paintings and the formation of the reasons;Second,combining the unique perspective,space,plane decoration and other elements of Balthus’ s picture with traditional figurative painting analysis and comparison,to explore his understanding and application of the characteristics of the abstract form of the picture in figurative painting.Third,combining with the series of Balthus’ Dream,this paper will make a deeper analysis on the relevant elements of abstract structure in the picture and the elements of formal beauty of painting,and try to reveal the secret of Balthus’ variant painting from the inside.Fourth,summarize the author’s experience and inspiration from the study of Balthus’ variant painting and explore the realistic significance of Balthus’ variant painting in the present.Abstract structure,as the expression form of painting,is the embodiment of artists’ artistic cultivation and a purposeful and conscious creative activity.The study of abstract structure in Balthus’ s variant paintings not only helps to motivate the painters to explore and pursue their inner selves,but also has a good reference value for the current development of figurative painting.
