Research On Narrative Design In Information Visualization Design

Since December 2019,people around the world have fought with COVID-19 COVID-19(hereinafter referred to as COVID-19)for more than three years.After experiencing anxiety and fear about unknown viruses,people around the world have a certain degree of understanding of this virus.However,COVID-19 is still changing,and people’s understanding of it still needs to be gradually improved.For the general public,the cognition of COVID-19 is obtained through the brain’s collection and sorting of external information.Among them,the authenticity,logic and rationality of information directly determine whether these information materials can leave a deep memory in our brain and then affect our behavior.Information visualization design is to simplify the complexity of information and present information with appropriate visual elements and perspectives by means of artistic means to make information easier to understand,remember and transmit.Applying the method of information visualization to the transmission of information related to the COVID-19 epidemic can help us understand the information related to COVID-19 more easily,graph the tedious epidemic information,summarize the information,and help us better respond to the COVID-19 epidemic.In the information visualization design,narrative design can make the information more orderly and hierarchical,and make the audience easier to understand and more interesting.Among them,the information visualization design in the direction of COVID-19 has the characteristics of large amount of information,complicated information content,boring content,etc.According to this feature,narrative design can better deal with these information.Therefore,how to reasonably use narrative design in the visual design of COVID-19 epidemic information is a topic that can be explored.This paper takes COVID-19 epidemic information visualization design as an example to study how to correctly and reasonably combine COVID-19 epidemic information visualization design with narrative design.The research content is divided into four parts.The first part is theoretical research.In this part,the characteristics and functions of information visualization design,narrative design,and epidemic information visualization design are analyzed.In the epidemic information visualization design,the development rules are summarized by analyzing the epidemic information visualization design in different years,and the status,functions,and basic elements of the current COVID-19 information visualization design are analyzed and studied,Lay a theoretical foundation for the follow-up content;Secondly,the related theory of narrative design and COVID-19 information visualization design is studied,and the role of narrative design in other design fields is analyzed;Secondly,it analyzes how to use narrative design correctly in information visualization design through various cases,analyzes the information visualization design works that use narrative design,and explores how to use narrative design reasonably from the picture scheduling part,plot composition part and other narrative parts in the case;Thirdly,through the theoretical summary of the contents of the above part,we can draw the conclusion that we should determine the narrative proportion in the narrative framework,establish the narrative perspective,create the narrative space,use the "plot device" and the use of dynamic in the narrative subject to construct the plot,and use the voice and auxiliary graphics in the narrative details to stabilize the plot development;Finally,in the practical research,first of all,establish the practical direction through the questionnaire survey,determine that the public still has insufficient understanding of the epidemic prevention content,and use the narrative design to design a "demonstration film of the sudden epidemic situation in Taiyuan City".After the release,verify through the questionnaire survey results whether the relevant works designed correctly use the narrative design,and whether it is effective,and verify whether the theory summarized is correct and feasible through practice,And design summary.Through the above research,this paper explores how to better use narrative design in information visualization design.Correct use of narrative design in information visualization design can make information orderly and hierarchical,increase information universality,and help more effective communication;Adding narrative design to the visualization of COVID-19 epidemic information can design works with a sense of plot,making COVID-19 related information easier to understand and more interesting.Assist in the dissemination of COVID-19 related information and address the actual needs of the people.
