| Georges Bataille(1897-1962)is a French thinker, theorist and writer who had a profound impact on philosophy, aesthetics, literature and art in the Western world of the twentieth century.Bataille’s unique theory of "heterogeneity" in his complex thoughts has greatly influenced the thinking of later thinkers on aesthetics, philosophy and artistic concepts.Starting from the basic concept of "heterogeneology",this paper explains the origin, connotation, and relationship of concepts such as heterology, heterogeneity, abject materialism, and formless,as well as in Bataille’s own literary practice and artistic concept.Besides, the embodiment of heterology, abject materialism, informal and other related theories and artistic practice are also analyzed in the paper. In literature, heterogeneity, abject materialism and its related viewpoints mainly appear in Bataille’s literary work "The Story of the Eye".The paper will analyze this text in a concentrated manner. In artistic conception and practice, the theory of heterogeneity is not only scattered in Bataille’s articles published in "Document" and other magazines, but also reflected in the works of contemporary surrealist artists associated with Bataille, and the works of artists selected in the his editor-in-chief of the magazine,as well as the works of artists participating in the "Asefal" group. After Bataille, heterology and vulgar materialism gradually expanded through the core concept of "informel",which was not only reflected in the contemporary French artistic trend, but also in the works of Italian Arte Povera artists. This paper analyzes those parts of the related exhibitions that are greatly influenced by Bataille’s ideas of heterogeneity and vulgarity, including abject art, fetish art, fecal science concepts, and other rebellious avant-garde art. Therefore, under the influence of Bataille’s thoughts on "heterogeneity" about "eyes",it is summarized and reflected on the development direction of the concepts of "heterogeneity" and "formless" in the forefront of contemporary art practice and theory. The first chapter of this paper will analyze Bataille’s literary and philosophical notions and the "heterogeneity" theories which has been put forward by related researchers;the second chapter will analyze the "eye" in Bataille’s literary works and artistic concepts.Heterogeneity characteristics and aesthetic value would also be discussed;the following chapters aim to sort out the "heterogeneity" expressed by contemporary and later artists,as well as the discussion of works of abject materialism and informal concepts which are derived from it and to support the traces and influences of Bataille’s theory of heterology in modern and contemporary artistic concepts and works;in the final Chapter, the current culture, philosophy and art related to eyes and heterology will be summarized with reflection. |
