Bataille Culture Critical Theory Research

In 20th Century,the development of science and technology increased the extent of human beings’ dependence on science and technology.It is widely believed that"knowledge is power",and form of knowledge in modern western society is science and technology,therefore,the science and technology become the power of man to change the world and themselves,and even a symbol of power.The material productive activities human carried out with science and technology descend to slavery of human to human.The more development of civilization,the more restrictions and constraints on people.There was an unprecedented cultural crisis broke out in the western society,and alienated human beings faced with serious problems of freedom and survival.Under this condition,Bataille used the unique view and way of thinking as well as incisive words as the weapon to criticized the alienation of human beings which was caused by the labor rationality,to expressed that he yearned for a free,infinite and heterogenous world.The main content of this paper is divided into three parts.In the first chapter,I analyzed the ideology source of Bataille’s theory of cultural criticism based on the social and cultural background and academic background of him.The second chapter is about the main content of Bataille’s theory of cultural criticism,revealing the development of Bataille’s thought in three stages that of revelation of labor rationality,resistance to labor rationality and the quest for the sacred world.In the third chapter,the evaluation and analysis of Bataille’s theory of cultural critical are discussed and the limitations of Bataille’s theory are found out and criticized on the basis of its unique significance and influence on modern society.Hope that the public can have a systematic understanding of Bataille’s theory of cultural criticism and put a warning to people’s alienation of the contemporary society and the freedom and survival crisis of the new era.
