Inner Mongolia oil painting began to develop after the founding of New China in 1949.Around the 1950s,a group of young painters who had successively studied at home and abroad emerged from Inner Mongolia,becoming the main foundation for the early development of oil painting.Around the 1980s and 1990s,it was a peak period for the development of fine arts in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,achieving brilliant achievements and having a great impact on the national fine arts industry.After entering the year 2000,with the economic globalization and mutual sharing of information,Inner Mongolia grassland theme oil painting has developed towards diversification.This is inseparable from the creation theme of Inner Mongolia oil painters based on the grassland theme.This article will take the horse image in grassland theme oil paintings as a starting point,and attempt to systematically comb through the development of oil paintings in Inner Mongolia for over 70 years.It will study the cultural connotation of Inner Mongolia oil painters’ paintings that express the Mongolian horse image,while also analyzing and studying the Mongolian horse image in some excellent painters’ works outside Inner Mongolia.This article is divided into three chapters to analyze the horse image in Inner Mongolia grassland theme oil paintings based on the development of Inner Mongolia fine arts for over 70 years,and interpret the Mongolian horse image in Inner Mongolia oil painters’ works with the help of multiple disciplines such as aesthetics,iconography,biology,ethnology,and cultural science.Firstly,it elaborates the development background of Inner Mongolia oil painting in Chapter 1,as well as the importance of Mongolian horses in Inner Mongolia oil painting.The central content of the article is from Chapter 2,which systematically analyzes the horse image works in grassland theme oil painting,and the characteristics of the painting language of the horse image in each Inner Mongolia oil painter’s works,and classifies the painting language based on previous research.After comparing the horse images painted by other regional oil painters,what are the similarities and differences with Mongolian horses.Finally,the third chapter discusses the impact of regional and ethnic culture on the Mongolian horse image in oil painting creation,and whether the advent of economic globalization and the new era will stimulate the Mongolian horse to a new height in grassland theme oil painting works.In the conclusion,the author attempts to comb the different artistic styles of Mongolian horses described by contemporary Inner Mongolia oil painters and how they formed their artistic characteristics,and focuses on discussing the value and significance of the Mongolian horse image in the creation of grassland theme oil paintings,as well as what new changes have taken place in the Mongolian horse image in the oil paintings in the new era,and whether it can continue to write about the higher artistic value of the Mongolian horse image in the grassland theme oil paintings.
