As a post-80 s writer,Cai Dong is different from her contemporaries since the beginning of her appearance. She has abandoned the flat, formalized, and simple way of writing and instead developed a unique writing style that combines viscosity and flightiness, characterized by external relaxation and internal tension. With her exceptional literary temperament and distinctive style, she has attracted the attention of the literary circle and won several awards, including the prestigious Lu Xun Literature Award. This thesis holds that "Human Fireworks" and "The Sea Of Stars" are two characteristics that can be easily recognized in Cai Dong’s novels at present.Specifically,"Human Fireworks" represents daily life, and Cai Dong adheres to the spirit of realism creation, faithfully presenting trivial and disorderly mediocre life."The Sea Of Stars" represents beautiful ideals and detached spirits, which serve as the starting point for her novels’ narratives, characterized by poetic qualities. The novel’s content always revolves around daily life scenes and explores the depth and breadth of human nature, appreciating the pain and beauty wrapped in daily life, and presenting modern life and the psychological world. The paper seeks to excavate the power source of criticism and valuable breakthrough spirit in Cai Dong’s writing, starting from these aspects.Additionally, the author consciously inherits the wisdom of Chinese traditional literature, and in her writing, she skillfully references and transforms classical literary resources. This paper will be divided into three parts for research:The first chapter will begin by examining the content of Cai Dong’s works.Through a close reading of her works, this paper will analyze the living situations, subtle spiritual worlds, and constant writing problems of the characters in Cai Dong’s works. This analysis will be conducted by comparing her works with those of other post-80 s writers. The second chapter will focus on the reflective and critical nature of Cai Dong’s novels, analyzing the value appeal of her writing.Starting with the widening road of healing and the growing healing power, this paper will discuss her acceptance and innovation of tradition, emphasis on the importance of human nature, reconstruction and affirmation of personal value and the significance of existence, anxiety and breakthrough of "Success Learning," and humanistic concerns between the lines. The third chapter will analyze the writing characteristics of Cai Dong’s works. From the perspective of narratology, this paper will focus on the narration strategy of seeing the big as the small, the real and exquisite narrative style, lyrical imagery, and concise narrative language. The analysis will also examine Cai Dong’s inheritance of realistic techniques and modern transformation of classical literature resources, thereby refining the artistic features of her novels. In particular, her works demonstrate the characteristics of multiple blends, incorporating not only interventions in real life and recording daily life realism techniques but also the creation of a poetic atmosphere. Finally, this paper will identify the limitations of Cai Dong’s novel creation and possible problems that may arise in her future works.
