Study On The Local Characteristics Of Urban Square Dance From The Perspective Of Cultural Ecology

At present,urban square dance has become an important part of the cultural life of the city.This dissertation takes urban square dance since the 1980 s and 1990 s as the object of study,examines and analyses the interaction between urban square dance and the local cultural ecology from the perspective of cultural ecology,and then analyses the deeper connotation of the phenomenon that urban square dance has local characteristics.The examination of this topic is not only a historical review of the local characteristics of existing urban square dance,but also an important entry point to consider the current phenomenon and future path of urban square dance.Based on existing research findings,this dissertation uses literature research,fieldwork and case study methods to conduct the study.The main content of this dissertation is divided into three chapters,with the exception of the introductory section.The introduction includes the purpose,significance,object and the problems to be addressed of the study,review of the current state of research,the research methodology and process,and the framework of the discussion.Chapter 1,in the interrelationship between square dance and urban square dance,the historical lineage of urban square dance in China is sorted out and presented,and the types and characteristics of urban square dance are summarised.Chapter 2,using urban square dance in Lanzhou as a case study,the author analyses the relationship between urban square dance and local cultural ecology by examining the local cultural ecology of Lanzhou and its specific manifestations in urban square dance,based on fieldwork.Chapter 3,the author discusses the cultural significance of urban square dance in making autonomous choices and self-adjustment in the local cultural ecology from three aspects,which are the vernacular culture in urbanisation,social relations in urban space,the transmission and continuity of regional culture.This dissertation holds that urban square dance is a form of dance culture derived and developed based on the process of urbanisation and the development of urban culture in China,which is both related to and different from square dance,and has the attribute of Big Dance with a variety of genres and sharing of elegance and vulgarity.Local cultural factors of the city,including natural ecology,history and culture,the spatial planning and other factors have shaped the local characteristics of urban square dance.The emergence of a local dance culture in urban square dance means that traditional square dance has moved from the rustic square to the urban square,achieving a contemporary transformation from the theatre form.This is both the result of the choices made by the practical subjects in the urban space and,as part of the urban culture,in turn influences the local cultural ecology of the city and together constructs the local cultural landscape of the city.
