On The Aesthetic Significance Of Heller’s Biopolitics

From the perspective of the turn of contemporary aesthetic politics,according to the interdisciplinary characteristics of Helle’s life politics theory,this paper examines the aesthetic significance of his life politics theory from three dimensions: western political aesthetics,Eastern European neo-Marxism and post-Marxism.The representatives of western political aesthetics are Foucault,Agamben,etc.,but the criticism of life politics by the Eastern European scholars represented by Agnes Helle,etc.,has received little attention.Agnes Helle’s theory of life politics was influenced by the Holocaust and the political upheaval in Eastern Europe,and she had a profound reflection on the two values of life and freedom.Moreover,Lukacs’ critical theory of daily life provided her with the implementation path of life politics theory,and Foucault’s life politics provided her with the inspiration of life politics theory.Hannah Arendt’s aesthetic politicization thought influenced their thinking on aesthetic alienation.Finally,Helle’s life politics theory became another contribution of her aesthetic thought.Helle pays attention to the fact that people’s bodies are imprisoned by the politics of life under the background of modernity,and the politicization of aesthetic field is its manifestation.She adheres to Marxism and always considers the liberation of life from the fundamental standpoint of capitalist criticism,and the conflict between the two values of life and freedom is the contribution of the theory of life politics.Helle believed that daily life was the starting point of life politics,and the governing skill of life politics involved the emotions of the subject,and then realized the control from the emotional level.They expressed their concern about the totalitarian thought contained in it.Helle’s life politics theory contains rich aesthetic thoughts,which not only contributes a new theory to the western political aesthetics,but also provides specific content for the new Marxism in Eastern Europe,showing the post-Marxist political aesthetics path.
