Since the reform and opening up,the inheritance and innovation of Chinese traditional culture have been impacted by a large number of new trendy foreign consciousness.In today’s era of cultural pluralism,the excellent Chinese traditional culture is our profound cultural soft power,which needs to be vigorously explored and developed.Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio is a collection of short stories in literary language written by Pu Songling,a famous novelist of the Qing Dynasty,which has a unique and important position in the history of Chinese novels.With his unique writing style,Pu Songling meticulously depicts the customs of the times and creates a variety of distinctive and lifelike characters,among which the image of the foxy lady is particularly prominent.As an artistic image of women carrying various cultural connotations,the image of the foxy lady conveys unique aesthetic connotations and cultural implications.Nowadays,with the advent of digitalization,electronization and networking,modern illustration is becoming richer and richer in connotation,and the design methods and design concepts are constantly evolving.This paper takes the creation of the illustration of the demonic image in Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio as a starting point,analyzes the artistic value of Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio by combining relevant literature and illustration books,and summarizes the characteristics and causes of the foxy image of Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio;secondly,by analyzing the cultural connotation,linear change,traditional color,light and shadow language,and the use of new painting techniques in modern illustration design,it summarizes the basis and significance of changes in design practice.Finally,by integrating the aesthetic concepts of contemporary young people,the image of the foxy lady in Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio are refined,analyzed and recreated,combined with popular illustration design drawing methods for redesign,and new ideas of Chinese traditional culture inheritance and innovation are explored in the creation process,so that more people can feel the charm of Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio culture.
