An Exploration Of Xia He’s Musical Image Building In The Opera Yimeng Mountain

Yimeng Mountain is a large-scale national opera with a red theme in China.The whole opera is based on real historical events in the revolutionary base area of Yimeng Mountain during the war,and tells the story of how the military and the people sacrifice themselves for each other to fight the enemy in a time of crisis.Xia He is an important character throughout the opera and contributes to the conflict of this opera.This article focuses on Xia He,and analyses the characterisation of Xia He from the following aspects.First,brief introduction to the background and the main plot of the national opera Yimeng Mountain,and the character Xia He.Second,an analysis of the structure and musical image of Xia He’s relevant singing passages.Third,the author’s own stage practice provides experience on the shaping of Xia He’s image.After the above analysis,the author attempts to explore the character traits and spiritual connotations of the character of Xia He and its musical expression,in order to provide perspectives and methods for other singers to interpret the character of Xia He.
