The Sheng concerto "Yi Jing" was created by Enjott Schneider,a contemporary German composer, for the Sheng performer Wu Wei in Germany in 2003.This is the first concerto composed by an European composer whose solo instrument is Sheng and concerted by the Orchestra.Later, the composer reorganized it and completed the version of the Chinese Orchestra. This thesis will take the version of the Chinese Orchestra as the main analysis object, through the writing of three chapters,to elaborate my understanding of this work.Because the number of the work performing is not much, and the research literature on composers and the work is also less, the first chapter will introduce the composer 、 the work’s creation background and performance introductions. The second chapter mainly analyzes the structure, orchestration and other musical elements of the work, and compares the version differences between orchestra and Chinese orchestra. In addition, this chapter will also discuss how these musical features are combined with the Book of Changes to express the composer’s understanding of this ancient book. The third chapter is my experience and opinions in the process of conducting and rehearsing this work, including the balance of each part, the handling of the relationship between solo and orchestra, and how to present the interpretation of the Book of Changes in this work through my conducting. As an undergraduate majoring in Sheng performance and a graduate majoring in Chinese music conductor,I hope to have a deeper and comprehensive understanding of the work,by analyzing the total score of the work and conducting the work on the basis of studying solo scores in the past.Through the description of the thesis,I can provide some literature materials for future Sheng performers and Chinese national music conductors, and make some contributions to the academic research of Chinese national music conductors and works.
