The primary objective of TCSOL(Teaching Chinese to Speakers Of Other Languages)is to cultivate learners’ capacity for communication through Chinese as a second language.The comprehensive Chinese course concentrates on sentence and word teaching,with the focus being on the cultivation of language and communicative skills.It also covers pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,and Chinese characters.The design of instruction must be tailored to the curriculum standards and learners’ characteristics,along with the orderly arrangement of the teaching elements,to make a successful lesson plan.A good teaching design may yield effective results.ASSURE Model utilizes educational technology and media to improve teaching efficiency.It is intended to help teachers and students to engage in teaching and learning,and can provide effective framework and operation process for teaching design and teaching activities.At present,it has been widely adopted and become a widely recognized effective teaching model.It requires teachers to design teaching from the perspective of learners,combined with modern information media technology to immerse learners in the classroom,which can not only help students improve their academic performance,but also generate students’ interest in learning,so that students are full of expectations for future classes.Three years of the covid-19 pandemic has made online teaching the mainstream delivery method of curriculum.Online teaching transfers the teaching location from the traditional offline classroom to the emerging virtual classroom,breaks the limitation of time and space,and gives teachers more freedom in their teaching.Online teaching is conducive to teachers to integrate high-quality teaching resources with the help of the Internet,so as to improve the teaching quality and optimize the teaching effect.The overlapping part of online teaching and ASSURE model lies in the application of modern information technology,which opens up the space for teachers’ teaching design and focuses students’ attention on the classroom to the greatest extent,so as to achieve the teaching goal.This thesis is divided into four sections: the introduction,which elucidates the purpose and importance of the topic,the research methodology,originality of the research,the literature review of teaching design theory,teaching design of Chinese as a foreign language and the ASSURE model.The second chapter introduces the ASSURE model and evaluates its practicality in Chinese language instruction.It first summarizes the ASSURE model,then introduces the theoretical framework of ASSURE model and it finally analyzes the feasibility of ASSURE model in Chinese classroom practice.The third chapter is the actual teaching design of WHAT DO YOU EAT.The fourth chapter is about teaching evaluation and reflection.It evaluates the teaching effect of teachers and students’ learning effect,considers areas to be improved in the teaching process,and proposes suitable suggestions.This is done by considering the teaching environment,learners,goals,contents,key and difficult points,teaching materials,duration of teaching,and so on,as well as the specific teaching implementation process.
