Analysis On Complaining Discourse Markers Of "You VP"
Posted on:2024-03-26 Degree:Master Type:Thesis Country:China Candidate:J Shen Full Text:PDF GTID:2555307049980969 Subject:Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Abstract/Summary: This paper takes the"You VP"type of complaining discourse markers frequently used in modern Chinese as the object of study,and divides them into"You VP verbalverbs"(“你VP言说动词”)"You VP psychological verbs"(“你VP心理动词”)and"You VP sensory verbs"(“你VP感官动词”)according to their verb types.Then,we select typical cases from each subcategory and examine their distribution characteristics,semantics,pragmatic functions,evolutionary trajectories and formation mechanisms from multiple perspectives.Chapter one is the introduction,which briefly describes the origin and significance of the topic,summarizes the current state of research in linguistics,clarifies the theoretical framework,research methods and corpus sources.Chapter two is an overall examination of the"You VP"type of complaining discourse markers,exploring three aspects,including the definition and classification of"You VP"type of complaining discourse markers,discourse functions and principles and formation of motives and mechanisms.On the basis of clarifying the characteristics of"You VP"type of complaining discourse markers,we classify them according to verb types,analyze their pragmatic functions in terms of discourse function,interpersonal function and meta-pragmatic function,examine their pragmatic principles in terms of status principle and affinity principle,and finally examine and analyze their formation motives and mechanisms.Chapter three analyzes the case of"ni kan ni"(“你看你”)in the"You VP"category of complaining discourse markers.It is examined from multiple perspectives in terms of distributional features,semantics,pragmatic functions,evolutionary pathways and formation mechanisms.First,the distribution characteristics of the discourse marker"ni kan ni"(“你看你”)are described by three aspects:syntax,semantics and sentence types.Then,the semantic structure patterns and the semantic relationship of the preceding and following items are explored,followed by the pragmatic functions of the discourse marker"ni kan ni"(“你看你”).Finally,the evolutionary process is examined from the diachronic angle and its formation mechanisms are analyzed.Chapter four examines the case of"(ni)hai shuo ne"(“(你)还说呢”)in the"You VP"category of complaining discourse markers.It is examined from multiple perspectives in terms of distributional features,semantics,pragmatic functions,evolutionary pathways and formation mechanisms.Firstly,the distribution characteristics of the discourse marker"(ni)hai shuo ne"(“(你)还说呢”)are described from three aspects:syntax,discourse,and sentence types,and then semantically,the semantic patterns of the discourse marker"(ni)hai shuo ne"(“(你)还说呢”)are divided into two types:"statement-negative"and"inquiry-negative",and the semantic relationship between the preceding and following items is examined in detail.Finally,we analyze the evolution process from the co-temporal perspective and discuss the formation mechanism of"(ni)hai shuo ne"(“(你)还说呢”)Chapter five discusses the case"ni ye bu xiang xiang"(“你也不想想”)in the"You VP"category of complaining discourse markers.This paper studies its distribution characteristics,semantics,pragmatic functions,evolutionary approaches and formation mechanisms.Firstly,the distribution characteristics of the discourse marker"ni ye bu xiang xiang"(“你也不想想”)are described from three aspects of syntax,discourse and sentence types.Then,semantically,the semantic mode of"ni ye bu xiang xiang"(“你也不想想”)is divided into complete mode and omitted mode.The complete mode is more commonly used,and the semantic relationship between the preceding and the following items is explored.Finally,the evolutionary process is examined from the diachronic angle and its formation mechanisms are analyzed.Chapter six is the conclusion,which summarizes the main contents and conclusions of the full text,and explains some deficiencies.
