Analysis Of The Pragmatic Function Of Japanese Discourse Markers

The forms of Japanese discourse markers are various, including fillers, meta discourse, some of the continuatives, adverbs and fixed expressions.These discourse markers can make the discourse natural and conform to the context and improve the efficiency of communication. The listener is influenced by the speaker by the discourse marker, and obtains the effect of the speaker's expectation through cognition, context and discourse. In the process of communication, the good command of discourse markers, which is conducive to the understanding of the words of the speaker, to make appropriate responses to ensure the smooth progress of communication.In terms of grammar,there are different forms of discourse markers.In terms of semantic,discourse markers are depent elements which do not represent specific concept.In terms of function,discourse markers control communication participants understanding of discourse.In this thesis, the reasoning novel Beautiful Wings as the corpus,which contains a large number of questions, suggestions, derivation of discourse, a large number of discourse markers. In this novel, “tsumari”?“jitsuwa”?“tabunn”were used 45 times,20% of the total.As far as the speech itself is concerned, the discourse markers have the function of conversation management; in terms of the communication participants, the discourse markers have the function of context construction, and pragmatic constraints.In this thesis, the Relevance Theory of Cognitive Principle of Relevance, Communicative Principle of Relevance and Ostensive?Inferential Process is the theoretical basis for the analysis of the pragmatic functions of adverbs“tsumari”?“jitsuha” ? “tabunn”.The study found that the pragmatic functions of discourse marker“tsumari”includes organizing the discourse, maintaining the session; supplementing information, making correction of discourse and restricting the hearer reasoning. The pragmatic functions of discourse marker“jitsuha”includes starting the topic, correcting the information, supplementing and adjusting the contextual assumptions, emphasizing the topic and limiting the other 's attention to the topic. The pragmatic functions of discourse marker“tabunn”includes easing the mood, promoting communication smoothly, correcting words, supplementing information and limiting the hearer's inference. Through the analysis of pragmatic functions of three adverbs“tsumari”?“jitsuha”?“tabunn”, the author hope that it can arouse Japanese learners attention on discourse markers, have in-depth understanding, and use Japanese skillfully.This subject needs to be studied deeply from the following two aspects,in depth study of combining phonetic theory and phenomenon,and from daily oral communication, expanding the expected analysis.
