As an important part of rhetoric,metonymy pronouns is a special language art,which plays an immeasurable role in human life.Relevance theory holds that the interpretation of metonymy pronouns is a process of reasoning through cognitive context.Therefore,this paper holds that the relevance theory has a powerful explanatory power in the translation of metonymy pronouns.By taking the relevance theory as the guidance and the optimal relevance as the goal,this paper probes into the translation of Chinese Metonymy rhetoric of speech in Uyghur,and comes up with the translation strategy of metonymy pronouns of speech.This paper introduces and summarizes the research on relevance theory and metonymy pronouns in detail.It also introduces the definition,classification,discrimination and rhetorical functions of borrowing figures.On the basis of Chen Wangdao’s classification,it classifies them in combination with previous studies,and then analyzes them in combination with relevance theory to investigate the best relevance strategies for translating different categories of borrowed words into Uyghur.It is found that under the framework of cognitive context and expression-reasoning,the optimal translation strategies and methods of borrowing lexical cases are not the same.In the same cognitive context,the metonymy pronouns adopts the method of restoring and constructing the cognitive context of the original text.Different cognitive contexts should be supplemented and adjusted.Under express reasoning,the side rhetoric uses express noumenon,borrowed noumenon,and supplementary express.On the other hand,two indirect translations are adopted: expressed meaning and paraphrased.Finally,this paper argues that translators should grasp the connotations of metonymy pronouns with strong ironic functions,maintain the original rhetorical functions and forms,and present the best form of borrowed figures to the target readers by restoring,constructing and supplemalizing the cognitive context.For metonymy pronouns with profound cultural connotation and characteristics of The Times,after accurately mastering the cognitive context of the target readers,it is necessary to retain the features of figures of speech and supplement the cognitive context,so as to realize mutual recognition of definite knowledge.In the case of borrowed words with common cognition in the cognitive context of the target readers,the direct translation method of restoring and constructing the cognitive context is adopted.The rule of unconventional borrowing adopts the expression of ontology and deep meaning to expand the cognitive context of the target text reader.All the above methods have created sufficient contextual effects,and finally created sufficient conditions for translation readers to understand the original author’s intention,so as to maximize their understanding of metonymy pronouns and achieve the ultimate goal of optimal correlation.
