Shanghai Private Financial Industry And The War To Resist U.S. Aggression And Aid Korea (1950-1952

From 1950 to 1953,the People’s Republic of China fought the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea for two years and nine months,successfully repelling the aggressors,as Marshal Peng Dehuai said: "Gone are the days when Western aggressors could occupy a country for hundreds of years by setting up a few cannons on a coast in the East." The Great War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was a patriotic war,which demonstrated the national prestige of the People’s Republic of China and the military prestige of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.The victorious progress of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was inseparable from the vigorous domestic movement to resist US aggression and aid Korea.As the most developed city in China in modern times,Shanghai has made great contributions to the Anti-US Aggression and Aid Korea Movement,and as an exemplary and leading financial industry in Shanghai,it has made a lot of contributions.This paper takes Shanghai’s private financial industry as the research object,and strives to fully show the process of Shanghai’s private financial industry actively participating in the work of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea,contributing its own strength,and participating in the "great unity of the people" under the leadership of the new government.Along with the launch of the National Anti-US Aggression and Aid Korea Movement,the people of Shanghai actively participated.Shanghai’s private financial industry has taken the initiative to participate in the Shanghai people’s movement to resist US aggression and aid Korea,and actively responded to the call of "June 1" by launching campaigns such as patriotic donations,promoting patriotic conventions,and giving preferential treatment to the families of martyrs,while cooperating with other political movements in the country to increase production and saving,participate in the suppression of counter-revolution,and comfort volunteer soldiers.Shanghai’s private financial industry has supported the nation’s War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea by participating in the movement,enhanced political understanding,and restored and developed Shanghai’s economy.We should build on our achievements and attach importance to and correct problems.The Anti-US Aggression and Aid Korea Movement was a patriotic movement experienced by Shanghai’s private financial industry after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.In this movement,the private financial industry has promoted the spirit of patriotism,revolutionism and internationalism,which deserves our recognition.Through the combing of existing literature,this article can try to show how the magnificent movement at that time was carried out in all classes of society,and the financial people in the elite class changed their thinking in the movement,thereby extending the connection with other political movements,and at the same time,it is also a supplement to the research of the anti-US aid to Korea movement.
