Research On Auditory Narration Of Character Documentary

The prosperity and progress of social culture has significantly improved people’s aesthetic awareness and cultural life needs.Under this opportunity,the documentary market is developing positively,and it also provides more possibilities for the creation of character documentaries.As an art with both sound and picture,the character documentary occupies an equally important position as the sound.However,in the field of narrative research on character documentaries,there is a problem of audio-visual imbalance,and the narrative nature of voice is weakened or even ignored.In this case,in the process of creation,the overall grasp of the sound awareness of the documentary and the establishment of the soundscape are ignored,which leads to the weakening of the narrative content such as the presentation of the social environment and the elaboration of historical significance in the character documentary has not been taken seriously.Therefore,the introduction of auditory narrative theory is necessary.Auditory narrative can enable creators to establish a "listening" awareness and focus on grasping the sound elements in the society in which the characters live,thus making up for the lack of narrative in pictures.Therefore,based on the research perspective of auditory narrative theory,we will start with the composition of sound elements in character documentaries,take the graduation work "There is a Beam of Light" as the main research case,and combine some outstanding character documentaries to analyze the narrative function and method of sound elements.According to the aesthetic characteristics of sound in character documentaries,the relationship between sound and picture under the concept of audio-visual equivalence is further summarized and prospected.The above research proves that sound and picture have the same important narrative in character documentaries.The interdependence and complementarity between "sight" and "listening" can not only realize the integrity of character documentaries’ narrative,but also generate richer narrative levels.
