In recent years,the inheritance language theory introduced from the West has become a new perspective in the field of language education,and Chinese inheritance has also become a new research field.In fact,the early Nanyang literature records a series of thoughts and practices of the overseas Chinese on the inheritance of Chinese language.Although these awareness and practices of the "pre-theoretical" nature of Chinese language inheritance are not systematic,they are far earlier than the existing ones that originated in the West.The theory of inheritance language is very worthy of our exploration,inheritance and development.Based on Chinese newspapers and representative literary works,this paper studies the Chinese inheritance of the early Nanyang overseas Chinese,confirms the existence of the concept of Chinese inheritance with a "pre-theoretical" nature,and sorts out the experience of Chinese inheritance.The study found that overseas Chinese in Nanyang have a strong motivation to inherit Chinese language,and there are obvious intergenerational differences in language and cultural identity,which are constantly weakening with the intergenerational;Nanyang overseas Chinese living in a multilingual environment have already had a basic understanding of the huge differences in Chinese language ability.In terms of curriculum setting and teaching research,Nanyang Overseas Chinese will actively improve the curriculum according to the environment of the multilingual society and actively explore the teaching method of Chinese as a heritage language while following the domestic regulations.At the family level,Nanyang Overseas Chinese have gradually formed a more mature family language management concept;at the teacher level,Nanyang Overseas Chinese attach importance to the background and language ability of teachers,and have formed a more scientific concept of language inheritance education.This paper finds that the awareness of Chinese heritage of overseas Chinese in Nanyang did not stop at the early stage,but continued to develop in depth,and achieved many surprising development results in the first half of the 20th century.
