"The Truth Of Environmental Protection":A Study On The Visual Metaphor Expression Of Environmental Protection Documentaries

The advent of the visual era has led to the birth of visual metaphor.Since then,visual metaphor has become an important means of expression in human aesthetic and cognitive activities,and also an important means of deepening the artistic view of documentary works.The purpose of visual metaphor is to convey the deep meaning of images through the transformation of meaning,so as to establish a deep meaning system beyond the surface image.As a special "dream making" art,metaphorical thinking has already entered the whole process of environmental documentary creation,playing the role of creatively recording the reality of environmental protection,creatively transmitting the concept of environmental protection and creatively arousing the audience’s emotion of environmental protection.The division and dislocation of "image reality" and "essential reality" formed by visual metaphor attract the audience to go deep behind the image to find the "truth in truth" of environmental protection documentary,and feel the beauty of polysemy,association and persuasion of environmental protection documentary.Combined with the author’s graduation work "Yidan’s Wildlife Preservation Journey",this paper will discuss "visual metaphor as an artistic expression of environmental protection documentary" and "object metaphor","lens metaphor" and "life metaphor" in environmental protection documentary respectively by using metaphor,semiotics and other relevant theories.The first part is the introduction,which combs the relevant background and theory,and introduces the graduation work "Yidan’s Wildlife Preservation Journey".The second part starts from the visual metaphor as the artistic expression of environmental protection documentary,and discusses its generation conditions,occurrence mechanism and implication transmission.The third part explores the deep metaphorical meaning behind a single visual code for the key objects in the work,such as animal trap,bird net,telescope and so on.The fourth part explores the lens metaphor formed by the expression of adventure images from three perspectives: abnormal shooting,long shot shooting and the use of montage.The fifth part abstracts and summarizes the life stages shown in the film,transmits the concept of environmental protection through life metaphors such as tears,death and vitality,and arouses the audience’s cherish of life,so as to realize the system construction and sublimation of environmental protection thought.
